Biana Kovic currently teaches at the Lucy Moses Music School and the Never2Late Inc. Biana has previously taught at the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music (Queens College); the Amadeus Music Conservatory; The French American School; Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts; ISO Orchestra; and the Turtle Bay Music School.
Ms. Kovic is recipient of the following awards: Suzuki Association Teacher Full Scholarship Award; Turtle Bay Music School Teacher Suzuki Scholarship Award; Chamber Music Award from the Yugoslavian Republic Competition; Award Mokranjac for Highest Achievement in Music and Arts; the First Prize from the Republic Competition (former Yugoslavia) in Cello Performance; and the Third Prize from the Federal Competition (former Yugoslavia) in Cello Performance.
With the FullMoon Productions, Ms. Kovic has produced 2 times award winning short documentary film Virtuoso, featuring an 89 year old woman who begins to learn to play the cello in five weeks. The film has been shown at the Sunshine Cinema, NY; Opera Plaza Cinemas, San Francisco, CA; Kendall Square Cinemas, Cambridge, MA; as well as numerous senior centers and film festivals. |
